DPHA Mourns the Loss of a Dear Friend, Doug Hermance.

DPHA Blog Articles,

Doug Hermance passed away this week as the result of cancer cutting his legendary life far too short. Doug was a fixture at DPHA from the Association’s inception. After owning several businesses, Doug transferred his entrepreneurial spirit and acumen to the business his parents started in Houston, Westheimer Plumbing and Hardware.

Doug was different than most of the professionals who worked in iconic and groundbreaking family businesses. He was not a product geek, Doug’s passion was for the business side of decorative plumbing and hardware and how to grow it. Doug lent his energy and expertise to Forte where he served on the Board for many years and eventually became president. During his tenure at the Forte helm, Doug helped to establish Ammara Designs, which eventually was sold to Bathroom Brands in England and incorporated into Crosswater USA. His help in creating a new plumbing fixture company with very little capital was nothing short of amazing. Doug poured over countless spreadsheets, never doubting that the venture would not be successful.  His positive attitude and glass more than half-full outlook served as a rally point for all involved, not only at Forte but also at Westheimer.

We know that Doug treasured his family, always smiling at the mention of his wife Janet, his parents and his children and grandchildren. What many will remember most about Doug was his infectious laugh and the fact that while he was extraordinarily serious about what he did, Doug never took himself too seriously. He was smart, funny, humble and a true gentleman. Doug will be sorely missed by all who knew and were fortunate to call him their friend.

The DPHA community extends it's heartfelt condolences and support to Janet, Marilyn, Bob, entire Hermance family and Westheimer Plumbing community. We will update with information on the Celebration of Life for Doug once it becomes available.
